Czech Ambassador Hosts Influential Israeli Leaders
in Herzliya for a Night of Diplomacy.
By Gedaliah Blum – Heartland Initiative
In a time when international alliances are tested and global narratives shift, the Czech Republic continues to stand as an unwavering ally of Israel. This truth was on full display at an informal yet monumental event hosted by the Czech Ambassador to Israel, Veronika Kuchynova, at her Herzliya residence. The evening was co-organized by Ariel Whitman, podcaster and writer for GLOBES, alongside Israel advocate and Intel Group co-manager, Uri Gobey.
Among the distinguished guests in attendance was Michal Dvořák, First Secretary for Politics, Public Diplomacy, Press, and Compatriots at the Czech Embassy. The event gathered an impressive array of Israeli leaders in their own right, including NGO heads from numerous diplomatic fields, venture capitalists, journalists, international legal experts, and other influential figures shaping Israel’s future. The diversity of expertise in the room underscored the importance of this diplomatic relationship, not just in policy but in fostering deeper connections across industries.
The Czech Republic has been a steadfast supporter of Israel since before the state’s reestablishment. From its critical role in arming Jewish forces during the War of Independence to its continued use of its EU veto power to counter growing anti-Semitic and anti-Israel rhetoric, the Czech Republic has proven time and again that its friendship with Israel is more than symbolic—it is a commitment of action.
The Heartland Initiative was honored to participate in this remarkable gathering. Our key takeaway was clear: there is little to no daylight between the Czech and Jewish people. While differing policy priorities may sometimes create misalignment, the intent and depth of friendship remain steadfast.
However, the event also highlighted an important realization: Israel must do more to actively nurture this relationship. Too often, our diplomatic energy is spent countering adversaries, while long-standing allies like the Czech Republic deserve greater attention and investment. Strengthening this bond should not be a passive endeavor; it should be a deliberate effort to build on shared values and deepen cooperation.
Through the Czech Embassy and the dedicated leadership of Ambassador Veronika Kuchynova and Michal Dvořák, Israel has a true partner. Now, it is up to us to cultivate and expand this invaluable relationship, ensuring that those who have always stood with us continue to feel our unwavering appreciation and partnership.
